CBT is an evidence-based approach that helps clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. CBT allows you to challenge negative thoughts and core beliefs that might be harmful to your overall wellbeing. Psychodynamic therapy aims to uncover emotions, thoughts, beliefs and early life experiences that may affect one’s worldview and relationships with others. Humaira challenges clients to explore the root cause of their symptoms, gaining new awareness about their emotions, thoughts, beliefs and relationship patterns. CBT and psychodynamic work well together as it connects how your upbringing and early relationships in your life have a significant impact in your worldview, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and your relationships.
EMDR aims to reduce symptoms of trauma by changing how your memories are stored in your brain. In addition to other therapeutic techniques, the therapist leads the client in a series of bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, etc) while focusing on a difficult memory, reducing any overwhelming feelings connected to past experiences, and allowing for emotional healing. EMDR is generally recommended for people living with overwhelming traumatic memories and symptoms of PTSD.
Integrating religious and spiritual beliefs, practices and considerations can make the healing and growth process of therapy even more beneficial and long-term. Research studies have supported the idea that spiritual and religious approaches to treatment have been effective in treating many psychosocial issues.
